We recommend that you arrive at Yangon International Airport (RGN) no later than 12:00pm on Friday (Day 1) so that you have time to relax before the Group Orientation at 3:30pm. Your trip leader and guide will greet you at the airport and accompany you to our accommodations in Yangon. Please note that travel to Myanmar consists of long flights across multiple time zones that can result in significant jet lag. Consider arriving a day early to allow your body time to recover. If so, we will gladly book you a room for the nominal out-of-pocket cost of $80. Your adventure will end in Yangon on Sunday (Day 10). Please schedule a departure flight that leaves Yangon International Airport (RGN) after 12:00pm.

All accommodations are in 4-star hotels with air-conditioned bedrooms, and in-suite private bathrooms with hot water showers. Accommodations are based upon a per person double occupancy rate. If you are traveling alone we will make our best effort to match you with a suitable roommate. If we are unable to do so for any reason, or if you prefer the privacy of your own room, a minimum single occupancy supplement of $495 will be applied to the cost of your trip. Single occupancy is based upon room availability and will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.

Activity LEVEL

All participants are expected to be in reasonably good health, steady on their feet, and able to carry their own equipment without slowing down the group. The majority of time spent walking will be non-strenuous over short distances.

Cultural Adjustment

Life in Myanmar exists at a very different pace than it does in most developed countries. People are usually in much less of a hurry. As in the case in many parts of Asia, "saving face" is very important to the locals. if you ask someone a question they will often give you an answer, even if they do not know the correct one. It is important to remember that this comes out of desire to be helpful. Buddhism is at the heart of Myanmar culture and it permeates private and public life. Monks and nuns hold a revered place in society and should not be touched. Also, they always sit at the highest place available and hold privileges such as the freedom of first class travel on public transport. Impatience, raised voices, and aggression are not well received in Myanmar. Please exercise patience, stay calm, and be respectful throughout your trip.

Personal Safety

Myanmar is very safe in terms of personal safety. Incidents of crime against foreigners are extremely rare. Yangon, Bagan, Mandalay, and Inle Lake have no travel restrictions and pose no risk for travelers. On June 13, 2018 The U.S. Department of State updated Myanmar's travel advisory to Level 1 (Exercise Normal Precautions), the safest of the four levels used to rank every country in the world. That is the same level assigned to Canada!
